Pacific Tripartite High-Level Dialogue on Decent Work and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent to take place 23-26 April 2024 in Suva, Fiji

SUVA, Fiji (ILO News) – Labour-related challenges and opportunities in the Pacific region will be discussed at the Pacific Tripartite High-Level Dialogue on Decent Work and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent which will take place from 23-26 April 2024 in Suva, Fiji.

His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere President of the Republic of Fiji will preside over the opening ceremony.

Organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) the event brings together high-level representatives of governments as well as workers’ and employers’ organizations from across the Pacific.

Participants will share insights, experiences and best practices related to tripartite (government, employer and worker) approaches to labour policies, employment opportunities, social protection, human mobility and sustainable and inclusive economic development.

The event will also contribute to the achievement of the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Pacific region.

Highlights include the presentation of the Pacific Employment and Social Monitor for 2024 and the launch of the Global Coalition for Social Justice in the Pacific.

The opening ceremony will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel on 23 April. All other events (24-26 April) will be held at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, Main Conference Centre.

Sessions open to the media

During the Pacific Tripartite High-Level Dialogue on Decent Work and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent a number of sessions are open to the media as follows:
  • 23 April: Opening ceremony, 18.00 - 20.00 (Grand Pacific Hotel)
  • 24 April: Launch ceremony for the Global Coalition for Social Justice in the Pacific, 09.15 – 09.55 (Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, Main Conference Centre)
  • 25 April: Launch of the ILO Pacific Monitor of the World of Work, 09.10 – 10.00 (Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, Main Conference Centre)
  • 26 April: Closing ceremony, 12.00 – 12.30 (Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, Main Conference Centre)
